My name is Kirsti Whalen. I am a creative writing student by day, and performance poet by night. I am a feminist, dog-lover, collage-maker and tea-drinker. I believe in telling stories and finding the links between each other in the depths of our shared tales.

I recently moved back to New Zealand after a four year stint in Melbourne, where I worked as a support worker and creativity-facilitator for young adults with disabilities. Prior to this I was a camel farmer in Austria, a laughing yoga instructor at a nudist colony in France, a nanny on a Scottish strawberry farm and a carer to a mum.

This blog is the outward expression of what it means to be an emerging writer at work in Aotearoa.
