Darling Kirsti. I am 55 and have known at least five women who were raped as you were as a teenage girl, including my sister. As you say in your blog, it is the same story every time. I am sorry that you have had to deal with this on top of all the other trauma you have suffered in your young life. You are an old soul. I hope you have the same compassion for your young self that you give so generously to others. You face your stresses with the most mature of defences: humour, altruism and sublimation (turning tragedy into art). There is not much else you can do. I hope that you know how amazing you are and I am so sorry that your mother is not here to tell you how proud she would be of you. You take care. xxx Elaine
A poignant and evocative piece…very brave to share it. Bravo for coming forward on a subject rife with labels and misinformation.
